Are airlines responsible for lost items?
-
Aer Lingus clearly states that it does not accept liability for any personal items left behind on its aircraft or in its lounges.
If you've lost an item onboard an Aer Lingus flight or in one of their lounges, here’s how to report and recover it: 1. Report via Aer Lingus Lost Property Service 🛫 Dublin Airport Flights: Aer Lingus uses a third-party service called WeReturnIt for managing lost items left onboard or in their lounges. You must submit an online form with your flight number, date, and detailed description of the lost item. If your item is found, WeReturnIt will ship it back to you—in-person collection is not an option. Aer Lingus disclaims liability for items left onboard. 2. Steps to Recover Your Item Visit Aer Lingus's Lost Property page to access the relevant link for your departure airport. Complete the WeReturnIt (or MissingX) online claim form, including: Flight details (flight number+date) Location where the item was lost Full description (brand, color, distinguishing marks) Wait for confirmation of ownership and shipment details. If your item is found, pay the required return fee. Track delivery as provided once shipped.
You can’t directly recover items left in the cabin or lounge of an Aer Lingus flight—for those left onboard arriving at Dublin Airport or in the Dublin lounge, Aer Lingus uses a third-party service called WeReturnIt, which handles all lost‑property submissions and returns. For London Heathrow, they direct you to MissingX. At any other airports, you must contact the local airport’s lost property office.
