Are Airport responsible for lost items?
-
Sibiu International Airport is not directly responsible for lost items in all cases. Responsibility depends on where and how the item was lost:
✅ They may be responsible if:
The item was lost within the terminal, at security, or public areas like waiting lounges.
The item was found by airport staff or cleaning teams.
You report it to Lost & Found within a reasonable time.
In such cases, Menzies Aviation, the airport’s ground handling agent, manages lost baggage and items. Their Lost & Found desk is located in the Arrivals Terminal, open daily from 09:00 to 17:30.
❌ They are not responsible if:
The item was lost on the aircraft – in this case, you must contact the airline directly.
The item was lost before security check-in or outside airport property (e.g. parking lots not operated by the airport).
The item was lost due to passenger negligence.
Airports typically disclaim liability for personal belongings left unattended or misplaced, unless the loss is due to negligence by airport staff (e.g. mishandled luggage during transfer).
